TLDR: My mom was just hospitalized for 5 days and can use our help!
First and foremost, please do not tell anything to my mom about this. She is a prideful individual and I often have to sneak things to her just to get her to take help. She is a survivor and doesn't like handouts, but I want to do this regardless.
So, many of you know my amazing mom. Ovarian cancer survivor, single mom, sacrificed her whole life always working 2-3 low-paying jobs at once just so my brother and I would have food to eat and a roof over our head. We grew up with nothing, but she never let us know it. She is literally the greatest person I've ever known.
The problem with growing up poor is that there is no safety net. She should be nearing retirement and knitting (she loves knitting), but she still works long hours and always "jokes" that her retirement plan is to work until she dies.
Recently, she was hospitalized with cellulitis, a potentially fatal affliction. Luckily she has health insurance through her job and it looks like she is going to be fine, physically at least, but she works an hourly job and is not going to be getting a paycheck for the near future as she recovers.
Obviously my brother and I are going to help her out as much as we can, but I'd love to more. Many of you on my friend's list have been touched in some way or another by the unbelievable kindness and love that is my mother and if you would like to help out by making a donation, I would be forever in your debt.
I'd like to buy her a house and a barn full of yarn for her to knit her days aways, but a month of rent and utilities is a good start.
