We asking for your help in supporting a Schindler family, Chris Acheson (Charlotte NI Superintendent), who is battling a devastating circumstance with his 3-year-old son Royston. We are asking for specific prayer requests this morning.
On Tuesday night around 10 PM, Royston stopped breathing. His mom reacted quickly and started CPR. About an hour later, he stopped breathing again while being transferred by ambulance to Carolina Medical Center. He didn't recover well. Royston has been in coma and on a ventilator since. In addition, he has an external shunt attached to his skull to drain fluid and monitor activity. He needs his internal shunt repaired, but he's developed a fever and the source of the fever needs to be located. Chris was at our HQ in Morristown, NJ at the time of the occurrence and was able to get on a redeye flight to be with his family in the morning.
So, the specific prayer requests today are for the doctors to find the cause of the fever and for Royston to have the strength to breathe on his own and transition well as they wean him from sedation.
This is the most amazing little boy. He was born with Hydrocephalus and had his first brain surgery when he was only two days old. He's defied the doctors before and overcome obstacles that most couldn't imagine. To know him and love him makes you a better person. You can't be around him without feeling totally happy because he touches your soul like no other.
We are graciously asking our Schindler team to help one of our family members and donate anything you can to help show our support to Chris, Royston, and his family.
