Help say goodbye to Gary

My hero and father Gary Johnson has always been an inspiration and made an impact on the many lives he touched. From any early age of 17, he was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy. That never stopped his drive to keep pursuing his passion while being a provider to his family. From his highschool days of southside to the many jobs he was successful at in Selma including his work as audiovisual tech at Craig Air Base. He enjoyed being an avid leader in his community helping many any way he could even with his own hardships. His biggest accomplishment though was his family. Once his Muscular Dystrophy had gotten worse, my dad still proved to be sctive in the community and one of the best role models I could ever ask for. Him and sister Jamie Moreland ran the Bagainfinder Magazine for many years here in Selma. I remember being a child watching in amazement at my father, who was then paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair, operate at his computer desks for hours making and printing business cards, taking calls to type up to place in that weeks book, as well for making logos and ads look good for advertising. This man never let life circumstances take away his independence as a man. He now is a grandfather of 4. Life has given him many blessings, but also lately has given its fair share of hardships. Two years ago his Muscular Dystrophy got worse and he needed a tracheostomy. After a long recovery he made it back home and we were more than blessed that God allowed daddy to keep the one thing he had left, his voice. This year May 12, 2019 we lost my grandmother and my dad's bestfriend Virginia Johnson. Between her, myeslf, grandchildren, and extra help we could find we were able to keep daddy going and still recovering from his last surgery of his ICD back in June. He is back home and has done wonderful recovering  from home. He now requires round the clock care to help with daily needs. Our family has pulled together the best we can to make this possible, but as you may know private sitters are not covered by insurance and can be quite expensive. Our goal is to let my dad recover at his own home and hold on to some of his much earned independence. We are asking the community to help one of their own as he fights to fully recover medically and still wake up in his own bed as long as God allows it. Any donation whether it's a $1.00 or $10.00 will not go unappreciated. Every dime helps. We will also set up a Johnson medical fund at ASE credit union if anyone would like to make a donation there. Thank you to all who can help, even just offering prayers, God bless you all!!!!https://www.gofundme.com/create/story/let039s-keep-gary-home
