Let's help Kim fight Lymphoma

Donation protected
Dear Family & Friends,
The unexpected happens. And it can change everything. As many as you may know our beloved Kim Klonaris was diagnosed with lymphoma this July, shortly after she was in Nassau caring for her mother who is currently battling breast cancer. It was a heavy blow. At 42, and in excellent health, no one could have ever imagined this would be a part of Kim’s journey. Naturally, the family has been completely thrown into a whirlwind.

The lymphoma is Marginal zone low grade b-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and requires aggressive chemotherapy treatments - including some hospitalization. We are so grateful because the prognosis is good. However, Kim had to make the very hard decision for her to leave her precious 8 year old daughter Eleni, husband Charles, family, church and friend support system as well as her home and begin rigorous chemo and medical treatments in the US for the next two and a half months.

Kim and Charles run a small airfreight business on island and now Kim is unable to work. Insurance covers some of her treatment but not all costs. Some of her cancer medicines out of hospital are not covered nor is travel, food and accommodation costs for family members who will be looking after Kim. In just over two short months, Charles and Kim have spent well over 10K out of pocket. Anyone who has faced a similar battle knows only too well how quickly it all adds up.

Kim and family have been long time members of the Lucayan Presbyterian Kirk and have always generously supported charitable causes in our wonderful Freeport Community. She and her family are so kind and humble, always giving. She and her family have never asked … nor will they ever ask … for help, even though they need it. Sometimes, though, we have to stand in the gap. So, on behalf of all of Kim and Charles’ family, friends and all who have asked how they can help, I’m asking. This is going to be a very tough battle for Kim and her family. Physically, emotionally and financially. Tremendous love and support are needed. So true to the village we Grand Bahamians truly are, there have been many calls, emails, texts, prayers and messages of love and support. Many have asked how they can help and, for those in a position to do so, a donation is a tangible way to help them in the journey ahead. Every donation, in any amount, helps and is so very much appreciated. We are grateful for whatever help you can give – donation or otherwise. Most importantly, please keep the prayers coming - Kim is so strong in her faith and has found great comfort in all the prayers, love and support she has already received…thank you!

The unexpected does happen. Amazingly, in the midst of the toughest battles come the most extraordinary – and unexpected - displays of faith, strength, perseverance, support and love. And, that changes everything. Please feel free to share this post to your Facebook page in an effort to get the word out. Let’s support our sweet Kim and let her focus on getting better. Thanking you all so much in advance!! SHE’S GOT THIS! #KIMMIESTRONG!
