Let's help Ellie get ahead

Over the past few months I have made a new friend in Riverside.  Ellie is a highly educated and hard working, single mom.  She fell on hard times in November when she was hospitalized for a month.  This pretty much depleted her savings entirely and she was unable to hold a job due to her illness.  This was the beginning of a spiral that led to her current situation where she has been without electricity since November in her apartment and she is at the point where she is about to be evicted as of 3/1.  I took her to BEDS today in La Grange to see if they can help her get caught up on her rent.  Unfortunately, they were closed so we are heading back on Monday.  She has a job in North Riverside which she walks to because her car is currently unable to be driven but typical of many places it seems, they are giving her only 35 hours a week so that she is not considered a full time employee.  I am hopeful that through some of my friends we can help her to make a dent in her current burden.  She owes $1650 for back rent and $500 for her electric bill.  You can imagine that once you are in a hole like this, it is next to impossible to get out.  She is an only child and both of her parents have died so she really has nobody.  Let's show her that the women of Riverside have each other's backs and try to help her get a leg up.  I will personally take any funds collected and deliver them to her landlord and anything beyond that I will personally pay her ComEd bill to ensure that all funds collected are going where they belong.

Any amount collected over $2150 will be put toward other bills that have not been paid since hospitalization as well as fixing her car and I will personally be responsible for handling the funds so that they are spent as those who donated intended.

NOTE: electric bill was paid on 2/23 thanks to your generosity and her power is back on for the first time since November 2017. I also used your donations to pay back rent. All remaining funds will be used to fix her car and pay down medical bills.
