Let's help Assis' Family

Donation protected
Dear friends,

On November 7, 2017, our loved one and friend, Luis Carlos De Assis, was picked up by ICE and detained to be deported back to his home country, Brazil. This is an incredible tragedy for all of us, as he has been a great friend to us all, as well as to the Peruvian Association and community. The legal details are more involved, but the short version is that the political climate within the current administration has made it that his extension (which he has had granted for several years) was not granted by the new immigration field officer. To those who know him, Assis has been a very kind, genuine, hard working, and loving person who would help anyone. Moreover, Assis is a consistent tax payer for over 12 years with his entire family and life in the United States of America. While Assis is detained and processed for deportation he has to leave behind his loving wife and two children. All three are United States citizens and love this country and have a very strong bond with Assis. Both sons, ages 10 and 12, are in gifted classes and are very well mannered, loving children. They and their mother have taken this very hard, but remain optimistic. With his current detention and the very real possibility of removal, it has placed a very heavy burden on his wife and two children. Assis has had to leave his family without the financial support that he worked so hard to provide. The legal cost is a continuing financial burden to bear. However, the cost of the home and all of the expenses that go along with the mortgage, upkeep, and raising two children is more than one income can handle. This has caused a great financial hardship for his wife, who is struggling daily to keep a smile on her face for the sake of her children and yet still deal with the absence and support of her loving husband. Family and friends are doing everything within their power to bring back this loving family man to his family. We urge everyone to consider helping this wonderful family have a chance to stay together. Any assistance given is greatly appreciated. Please also share this with your friends and family.
