Let's get Sarah a Canine Angel

Tax deductible
A typical high-school graduate, Sarah Alexander is ready to get out into the world, but her road to independence is bumpier than most.

Diagnosed with a smorgasbord of psychological deficits ranging from obsessive-compulsive disorder to Tourette’s syndrome, Sarah suffers from crippling anxiety attacks. She’s paralyzed at social gatherings and struggles to meet new people, who can be cruel. Sarah's had difficulty finding friends with common interests, such as dogs.

Sarah may have trouble connecting with other people, but dogs understand her right away. They sense her passion for them. When she was 8, she got her very own dog for Christmas. Willow was a natural at sensing Sarah’s needs, and has been her lifeline for 10 years. Now Willow's health is declining as Cushing’s disease takes its toll.

Sarah’s family realized she needs a professionally trained service dog by her side to venture out into the world, so they contacted Canine Angels Service Dogs. Bella, their gorgeous mini Aussie was immediately drawn to her. Bella was ready to partner with the right handler, and Sarah fit the bill.

“Having a service dog will help Sarah become more independent and feel more confident. She’ll be able to get a job and enjoy life's pleasures,” her mom Sherry says. “Having a service dog will make a significant difference. Bella will enhance the quality of Sarah’s life and ours.”

Canine Angels Service Dogs rescues pups to train for people with disabilities, like Sarah. But the nonprofit isn't able to cover the whole tab for every applicant. That means worthy candidates like Sarah need your help to recover their cost.

Since 2011, Canine Angels has been searching the shelters for future service dogs based on health and temperament. A small charity, Canine Angels has been unable to attend fundraising events during the pandemic. This year, we've still managed to get veterans and young people like Sarah started with their own service dogs.

Canine Angels Service Dogs is a 100 percent volunteer effort. We have programs for veterans, first responders and children with autism and anxiety. We're eager to help Sarah with mini-Australian shepherd Bella, who took to Sarah like they were old friends.  Please help us by going to: https://donatenow.networkforgood.org/CanineAngelsServiceDogs

Every donation helps. Write Bella in the Special Purpose Box. You'll automatically get a receipt for your tax records. Sarah and Bella thank you.
