Let’s Get Mental on Sunday 8th July!
It has come to our attention that an overwhelming number of students and people within the Performing Arts have suffered from mental health issues, specifically eating disorders. Eating disorders so often go undiagnosed if they are not obviously ‘severe’ and weight loss is applauded so sometimes it’s hard to detect and understand what one is. A lot of people within our industry have unhealthy relationships with food/exercise and with their bodies, which is why we are raising money for Beat.
Beat is the UK’s leading eating disorder charity. It has helped countless individuals beat their eating disorders and come out stronger on the other side. The key components of someone’s recovery are acceptance of themselves and their condition, knowing that other people are supporting them and being educated on how to live a healthy lifestyle. We believe that it’s time to come together and unite in the face of eating disorders and stand together as advocates of self love for our bodies (that are particularly important for us in our profession)!
So what are we doing? We’re hosting an inter-Drama School football tournament on Sunday 8th July 2.30-6.30 in Shepherd’s Bush! Teams from ArtsEd, LAMDA, PPA, Mountview, Drama Centre, East 15 and Italia Conti are in the line up for a cracking day! As well as the matches, we will also have an area full of other activities, challenges, food and drink for everyone to take advantage of while the matches are on. There’ll also be live music and performances from some students.
All profits will go directly to Beat, but we need to start fundraising NOW to be able to put on this brilliant event.
THERE ARE ONLY A LIMITED NUMBER OF TICKETS AVAILABLE, AND WHEN THEY'RE GONE, THEY'RE GONE!
Tickets are £5 and will OFFICIALLY go on sale from 1st June, but if you want to secure a ticket before then and make an extra little donation to help us get the event ball rolling, then read on…
**IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SECURE A TICKET AS WELL AS A VIP GUEST PACK ON ARRIVAL BEFORE TICKETS OFFICIALLY GO ON SALE, THEN DONATE £10+ BEFORE 1ST JUNE, LEAVING YOUR NAME AND THE COMMENT ‘I WANT TO GET MENTAL’. Your name will then be added to the list as well as a note that you are a VIP guest.**
Otherwise, regular tickets for £5 will not go on sale until 1st June. If you donate under £10 before then, it won’t necessarily secure you a ticket, it will just be a part of the general fundraising.
** VIP Guest Packs will include free entry into some of the other activities going on and will be confirmed closer to the time**
