Let's get a bike for my mama!

Hello people,
I am doing my first half ironman (70.3) in two weeks.
Many of the people I have talked to about it have asked me if I am running for something or raising money for a cause.
I have always seen sport as more of a personal endeavour, as a way to escape the interconnected world rather than a thing I could utilise for a greater goal.
Then I thought that perhaps there was a midpoint that I could reach. Something not overly public, but still giving props to important things in my life → my mum.
My mum has been very welcoming this summer (and all the years before that) for my sister’s and my friends. - reaching a max capacity of 14 people this summer in a 3 bedroom apartment. She rarely complains and is often seeking to find the right compromise so that everyone can be happy. She has also been very supportive of my preparations for the event.
As a big thank you for her never-ending hospitality I would like to buy/contribute to a new bike for her (which she has been hinting at for a while).
She loves cycling and often goes to work with her bike (17 km round trip).
My mother has been riding her same old and heavy bike for more than the past 10 years. We love it, and will not trash it (future guests will be more than happy to use it given the chance), but I do think that a lighter newer bike will add renewed fuel to her already fiery love for cycling.
I do not want this message to feel as a reproach, but rather as a celebration. Please do not feel obliged to give anything! Many of you brought beautiful gifts and all of you were exceptional guests! It was wonderful to have you all in our home this summer. You have made it beautiful, fun and varied and you are all welcome back at any time.
I would just like to thank my mum somehow - and this has been the best way that I came up with during the thinking that I did on the long, strenuous, and sometimes lonely hours of training.
