Diagnosis Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer

Paul Searles is a quiet, unassuming man with an easy smile and words of wisdom beyond his years. An old soul loved by all. True to his Vermont heritage, his passions are for fishing and hunting, often putting a meal on the table through these passions. Paul gives his all to everything he does, going without if someone else needs something.

Paul has worked hard all his life, beginning work at the age of 15. He worked on a Vermont dairy farm for many years, rising at 3 am every day to care for the dairy cows and the milking operations. He transitioned nicely over to Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory as a Line Leader. No matter where he has worked, his main objective was taking care of the family that he loves dearly. His family is the most important thing to him; his wife, Lisa, of 31 years, two daughters, one with TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury), two grandchildren, Devin 8 and Kaylee 6 of which Paul and his wife Lisa are guardians. He has always worked diligently to care for them.

Approximately a year ago, Paul began to have non-specific debilitating pain that limited his ability to work. His diagnosis was recently confirmed as esophageal cancer, stage 4. Thus begins the very heartfelt physical and emotional pain that accompanies such a diagnosis; more tests, procedures, treatment, chemo, travel for treatment, etc.

Aside from the extreme difficulty of Paul’s diagnosis, the financial hardship will devastate this beautiful family. Based on the need to want to help, family and friends have started this “GoFundMe” account to assist Paul and Lisa with this financial struggle.
