Hi my name is Sophia Bermudez and am a third year at mills college! I started this semester unsure of my financial aid package but continued doing the work unenrolled. It’s about to be midterms and I finally got my package and found out I need $2000 to continue. I looked into my options and I can’t afford to take out another loan. I’m a queer Latina whose a first gen student and I can’t let this financial hurdle stop me. This is the first semester in a long time I’ve felt successful and to throw that away now will break my heart. I am an ethnic studies major and minor in child development and hope to continue my work of decolonizing and reevaluating many aspects of our lives. I love learning and am very passionate about using my degree to help my community heal and thrive. Please support me in my academic journey as this is one step in a long road. <3
