LET PREVENT ST. MARK PARISH FROM BEING DEMOLISHED.

St. Mark Parish in Nakuru, Kenya was built in 2014 by the South Sudanese community living in Kenya. Since they moved to Kenya, finding a place of worship was not easy. They moved from church to church. Things were tough. When the local community allowed them to use their churches, our people ended up paying so much money to those churches. Few months later, they kicked them out of their church. They would stay home sometime without praying due to lack of the place of worship.

In 2013, they decided to start collecting money to build their own church. After working hard and saving little money they had, St. Mark Parish was built. This church can accommodate 2,000-3,000 members. What a game changing experience for our people to have their own church in Nakuru, Kenya? There was no pressure or conditions put on them when they are praying. The church opened the door to anyone who wants to have a moment with God. 

However, these members own the building and not the land where the church was built on. Funds were not available to buy the land and build the church at the same time. Thus, it was a good idea to rent the land and built the church instead. They have been paying the landowner for last six years. However, things changed last year when the landowner saw the church as a crucial place for our people, he changed his mind and demanded more money for the land. As a result, church members negotiated with the landowner to give them enough time to find money in order to pay the full cost of the land. However, they given limited time.

Now, we raising money to make sure this church is not demolished by the landowner. The church is the only place where our people find comfort. All community activities are held at the church. It is use as a community center. Kids learn Bible and social responsibility at this church. The church changes people's lives.
