Let Aussies fly! Remove the overseas flight ban.

Urgent appeal to help fund the legal challenge to cruel laws that prevent Australians from being with loved ones overseas.

With 30% of Australians being born overseas, it's clear millions of Aussies have strong family and emotional ties to loved ones in other countries. Thousands of people have missed the funerals of family members, felt the pain of missing the birth of a grandchild or are forcibly separated from partners or other significant relationships. But this cruel ban on travel, implemented under the emergency powers of the Biosecurity Act, remains in place despite the obvious conclusion that a person leaving Australia poses no Covid-19 threat to those that remain behind.

 It can't go on. And it will not go on.

LibertyWorks, a volunteer-driven nonprofit organisation, is taking the Commonwealth of Australia to Federal Court in a bid to overturn this outrageous limitation on freedom of movement. The matter is being heard before a full bench of Federal Court judges. Why is this important? There is no appeal for the loser. This is a one time winner take all legal case and it's so important that we get it right. If we win, the legislation closing the outbound border will be invalidated.

We are in with a big chance to invalidate this awful legislation but we need some help.

The total cost of the action was initially estimated at approximately $85,000 and we managed to raise donations to cover those costs. However, the fees have blown out by almost $10,000 due in part to the delaying tactics of the Commonwealth.
