Leslie’s Breast Cancer Miracle Fund

We all know one of those people that brightens up every room they walk in to. Someone that inspires us to be strong and stay positive through the tough times life puts us through. The person on the top of that list for me, my siblings, and anyone else that knows her is our mom, Leslie Mooldyk.

Just a few weeks ago we got the unfortunate news that our mom has been diagnosed with Stage 1 Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Breast Cancer. We are reaching out to all of our wonderful friends and family to raise the essential funds needed to get her and us through this very tough time.

OUR STORY:

This devastating diagnosis comes after 8 years of dealing with the death of our father (a Major in the ARMY who died while deployed in Afghanistan in 2011). After receiving notice of his death, everything changed in the blink of an eye. We thought losing him was as bad as it could get, but found out quickly that the will and death gratuity was rewritten and sent to his mother in NY, a woman who has been distant and out of touch for years.

The death gratuity of around $100,000 went to his mom is NY and our family didn't receive a single penny. That money was supposed to reach my mom but instead she was left with 21 years of marriage and 3 kids worth of debt to handle on her own. During the time of our father’s final deployment, our mom stayed home to raise us and after the tragedy, was left to do so with little to no resources whatsoever. Even through the storm she always went out of her way to keep a roof over our heads, food in our belly's, and love in our hearts.

As time has gone on, we've been able to find some peace and acceptance for losing our father at such a young age. Now with what is happening to our mom, who is the only parent we have left, this is shaping up to be the hardest times we've ever gone through.

The past 8 years we have been forced to move over 5 times and have been working as hard as we can as a family to try and stay above water with little luck. Just this month we received notice that we need to be out of our house in Clayton, CA by October 1st. With that seeming like another version of the worst news we could get, she was put in to the Emergency Room towards the end of August with Gall Stones and had to go in to surgery that night. All of this combined with the tragic diagnosis of Breast Cancer, we are truly getting pushed to the edge. She is still awaiting surgery and the extreme amount bills have only begun to stack up. This fundraiser is our last chance at living a somewhat stable life.

To this day she still dedicates her life to making sure we are okay and is the most selfless and caring woman. Outside of her family she spent every day researching and applying non-traditional ways to heal everyone around her. Up to the date she received her diagnosis, she worked with seniors to better their quality of life before passing on to the other side. She spends almost all of her energy bettering the lives of others and it's our turn to step up to the plate for her.

Our mom’s birthday was on September 12th and she spent the entire day in the hospital with doctors trying to figure out what needs to be done. Launching this fundraiser is our final effort to instill hope in to her life that things can and will get better. I know it’s a different way to celebrate the day she was born but we couldn’t think of better late birthday gift for her than to reach out for help in desperate times during Breast Cancer Awareness Month

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

It burdens me to say but without your donation we are reaching the end of the line and don’t know how much longer she can bare this weight.

Please take a moment to consider donating to our situation as each and every contribution makes an impact. Even if you can’t spare any money, please spare a second and share our story in the hopes that others might be able to help.

We thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts. Words can never get close to describing how grateful we are for your support.
