If you live in Marfa, you probably know Lesley Villarreal. Maybe she photographed your wedding, or your baby, or your pets, or maybe you’ve got one of her breathtaking sunset photos hanging in your living room. You’ve danced yourself dizzy to bad (read: excellent) 90s music at one of her DJ parties and enjoyed the festive projections she insists on terrifying us with every Halloween.
Here we find ourselves in a position we never thought we would: our animal-doting, Halloween-loving, photography magician of a friend and neighbor needs our help. A recent diagnosis of invasive ductal carcinoma has led to a flurry of tests, scans, and surgeries, stays away from home, mounds of medications and much more to come.
In the coming months Lesley will power through an aggressive course of treatment that will require not only incredible strength and bravery but also a great deal of money - the initial tests, scans, and procedures necessary to stage and determine the best path moving forward have already totaled over $5,000. Lesley and her family need our help.
The past several years have been hard on us all, and anything you can give - whether it’s a kind thought, or a passing wave, or a couple of dollars - will be more helpful and appreciated than I can find words for. We are going to fight, and we are going to win, and your support - in whatever form it may come - means everything.
I’ll do my best to keep this page updated as treatment progresses.
