What the funds are for:
We are making a movie! The funds we recieve will go directly to feeding our cast and crew while on set, reserving filmmaking equipment, and paying the locations in and around Nashville at which we will be filming. Later on, we will use these funds to submit this film to different festivals and increase national and international awareness.
Who we are:
We are Belmont University students seeking funding for a short film named Les Demoiselles. This film’s main purpose is to raise awareness for human trafficking victims- primarily giving a voice to the voiceless.
About Mia Shelton and her team:
Written by a young woman, Les Demoiselles wants to empower others to learn more about what human trafficking is and how many people it affects worldwide. We want to inform people of the horror of abuse (specifically human trafficking).
As a young woman, our director has poured her all into appropriately conveying a story that desperately needs to be told. We are proud of our cast and crew, booking Abby Henkel and Draper Witherspoon as two of our leads.
About the story:
The script is inspired by true stories. The script gives a glimpse into the life of a young girl named Marty, a victim (and future survivor) of trafficking. As you know, the recovery process for victims can last a lifetime. In this film, while there is no fairytale ending, Marty does find her voice. She asks for help. Too many people are unaware of the importance of this step for victims.
How you can help:
We are aiming to partner with as many local and national organizations for fundraising and fund development. We want to educate, inspire, and make a change. We want to do this on Belmont’s campus, in Nashville, and worldwide. If you or
anybody you know may be able to assist or encourage us in this pursuit, please reach out!
We are dedicated to telling this story. We would love to have your help. We want victims to have hope to fight and demand to be heard.
