<div>Hello. My name is Lequan Williams. I’m 52 years old and from Lansing, Michigan.

<div>I’m not someone who’s used to asking for help. I’ve always tried to be the one my family and friends could count on. I’ve done my best to provide for my loved ones. I’m a husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, son — and a fighter. But now, I find myself facing the greatest fight of my life, and I’m reaching out with a vulnerable, but hopeful heart.

<div>I’m currently at the Cleveland Clinic, connected to an ECMO machine, where I will remain hospitalized until a suitable donor match is found for a heart and double lung transplant.

<div>This journey hasn’t been easy. My illness began in 2013 with a diagnosis of pulmonary sarcoidosis, which eventually spread to my heart, causing severe complications — including cardiac arrest. On March 31, 2025, I came to the Cleveland Clinic for a routine check-up. That visit turned into an emergency admission, and I’ve been here ever since.

<div>After a long battle, I’ve been blessed with the chance to receive a heart and double lung transplant — a true gift of life. But the road ahead will be incredibly difficult — physically, emotionally, and financially — not just for me, but for my entire family.

<div>The Challenges We’re Facing:

<div>Medical Costs – Even with insurance, transplant surgery brings high out-of-pocket expenses: hospital stays, specialists, labs, and long-term care.

<div>Post-Transplant Care – I’ll need lifelong anti-rejection medication, physical rehabilitation, and frequent follow-ups. These treatments are expensive but essential to survival.
</div>

<div>Lost Income – I won’t be able to work for several months during recovery — and my wife will need to take time off work to support me.
</div>

<div>Travel &amp; Lodging Expenses – The Cleveland Clinic is 3.5 hours from our home in Lansing. I’ll need to stay nearby for months after surgery. That means covering:
