Leo’s Cancer Radiation Treatment

Donation protected
The one thing I’ve dreaded most is knowing I would have to one day say goodbye to my best friend in the world. I just never in a million years thought it would come so soon. I rescued him from anti cruelty when he was 4 years old but what we didn’t realize at the time was that he would very soon be the one saving my life.

After dealing w/ a traumatic experience in college I had battled ptsd for almost a year. I didn’t know it but I needed Leo much more than he needed me. He was supposed to be the family dog but we immediately recognized something in each other and bonded that very first night. Within a few weeks Leo had me back to my old self & he saved my life. What kills me most is that now I may not be able to save his.

Leo has been diagnosed with prostatic carcinoma- an incredibly rare and very aggressive form of canine cancer.

I was originally told by the first radiologist he would only have 6-12 months left if we were lucky. After some research I figured out that there has been recent success w/ radiation treatment in combination w/ chemo & nsaids.

The radiatiologist today confirmed he thinks Leo would be a perfect candidate for the combined treatment and could live even another few years happy & healthy after treatment. This treatment would not only increase his life expectancy from a couple months to a few years but it will also maintain his quality of life and prevent suffering from serious complications.

While this is great news- the bad news is that the radiation would cost $9,900  for 20 treatments over the course of 4 weeks and a $2350 ct scan would be required first.

If by some miracle with the help of generous friends, family, strangers etc we can raise the money to save Leo’s life and end up raising even more money- every single dime unused will go to funding healthcare for rescues in shelters.

Even if Leo can only be saved for a couple more years- if we can raise money to help other rescues much like Leo get the healthcare they need while in shelters then at least some good can come out of such a devastating illness.

Every dime counts and we thank everyone so much for the love and support.  ❤️❤️❤️
