Help Heal Baby Leo’s Heart

Leo Nathaniel Bowman was born April 7th, 2020 at 12:01pm. He weighed 9 lbs 1 oz and was 21.5 inches long. After about five minutes of life, Leo showed signs of breathing difficulties. His condition worsened and he was eventually airlifted to the University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital where he was diagnosed with D-TGA. His condition stabilized after a preliminary surgery; however, he is still very weak due to his critically low oxygen levels during the first ten hours of his life. As Leo continues to get stronger, his doctors are hopeful that he can undergo heart surgery within the coming weeks. This unexpected situation has been extremely stressful and sad for his parents, Laura and Nate. We are praying fervently that baby Leo gets well. The details will continue to change, but for right now Leo is expected to stay at the U of M for at least the next three weeks.
