Help Cellist Lenae Harris Get A Case

Donation protected
For those that know me and for those that do not, I'm a cellist residing here in NYC. As a string player, there is quite a bit of maintenance and care in playing a stringed instrument. And, the most major components of this are both the storage of your instrument and strings, and bow rehairs.

For the past 13 years, I have carried my cello in and around just about every crevasse of the city, recording and performing for several independent and major label artists. Over the years, my case has sustained quite a lot of wear and tear. As of yesterday, October 14, 2013, my case saw it's last day of travel. The inner lining has completely come apart, the bottom has a visible opening from a wide crack, the bottom latches will not close, the handles have broken, and there is a another crack on the top. When my case was purchased many moons ago, it was a replacement case for my very first case which was destroyed in travel overseas by baggage handlers. At the same time, my family was gracious enough to purchase a new instrument which is my one and only one that I've had for the past 21 years. It is in my best interest to try and protect this investment with the best as I don't have the funds to replace it.

I have upcoming performances where I need the ability to transport my instrument to and from safely. Too, both of my bows are currently in repair at David Gage, NY. Fortunately, his shop has been kind enough give me a loaner. Hard cases are advisable if you are likely to be traveling on public transport a lot, or the cello is going to be moved around or left standing in crowded places - schools, backstage of a concert hall etc. In this sort of situation the possibility of the bridge being crushed through the belly, or the instrument knocked flying is very real indeed. Too, I'm looking to replace my case with a lighter yet re-enforceable case that will preserve my back.

If you can bless me as a musician with a donation, your gift will help get the proper and necessary storage and maintenance for my instrument. Thank you and may God bless you for your donation. Also, should your donations exceed my goal, the remaining balance will go towards strings and a follow up fundraiser to do a formal concert and recording. I am happy to provide further details about the latter should you be interested.

Anything helps to keep the music going! Thank you for your time!
