Leigh's Medical Help

In 2016, I had a small accident in my home.  At the time I thought nothing of it, but the next day I realized something was wrong.  The doctors thought I had injured my spine and my neck.

It took almost two years of testing and physical. Ultimately, the MRI’s showed I needed surgery on my right shoulder and neck.

I was working for a company and was in my seventh year with them.  The owner was the kind of guy that promised that he was committed to the company and to us.  He regularly held meetings to let us know we were a great team and of course, we all believed in him.

I wasn’t worried about being laid off when I scheduled the surgery for my shoulder and planned for my recovery.  It was completely out of the blue when we were told we were being laid off and we may or may not get hired back in a year or two. Almost three hundred people in total got the ax. 

I no longer have benefits, or a job, and I cannot get a job while in recovery as its my dominant arm.  I’m drowning in medical bills, I owe the Doctor, surgical center, and I need to buy insurance to cover the physical therapy I need to get up and running again. I have worked since I was sixteen, yet here I am.

I need help and asking for it is the hardest thing I have ever had to do in my life. If not, I will be one more American living out of their car, crushed by our current lack of health care.
