Leigh Ann Gray

I can’t believe I’m writing these words. Our mother and the true matriarch of our family appears to be headed home very soon. There are appropriate words to describe Leigh Ann Gray, just not enough of them, nor a way to truly express them. To the many who have been reaching out to our family, praying, and calling out to the Lord on her behalf, we thank you. We will never forget the day in late June 2021 where we were told that she had been diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer. This sent shockwaves through our family in ways we are all still grappling with and trying our best to process. We are now at a point where we are coordinating with hospice care to ensure she and my dad have the day-to-day support needed for the days ahead. As excruciating as it is to write these words, there is a sense of peace in knowing the God who holds our tomorrow. There is a type of resilience and steadiness that can only be discovered through a trial like this. God’s grace is sufficient, yet we are broken. We are typically a private family, so we ask that you bear with us as even now we only share pieces of the information available to us. Our mom is not a person that wants anyone to see her struggling, to see her in a weakened state, rather wants to be seen and known as a victorious woman of God who knows where her help comes from. We want to honor that and have been trying to keep communications to a manageable level.

We wanted to create this forum as a space for the many expressions of love and support for anyone who would like to contribute in any way. If there are any words of encouragement, any financial gifts, any prayers, or specific expressions of faith you would like to share, we ask that you use this space. We would like to raise funds to mitigate the costs of hospital visits and ongoing care for mom. Our dad is understandably overwhelmed, so we hope that this can become a space of reassurance and a reminder of the community he has as he navigates the difficult decisions ahead. Please be generous in your words, in your gifts, and we will endeavor to share even with mom what we are hearing and seeing from you. I still can’t believe I’m writing this.

We love you with the love of Christ that even now is continuing to hold us together, even when we want to fall apart. We thank you for all that you have done to support the Gray family up to this point. It will not be forgotten.
