Update - January 16, 2018
Dear Friends, Thank you for your incredible generosity and continued support and prayers. We reached our campaign goal for the Dzvonick family. This campaign is closed.

January 6, 2018
Leigh is currently receiving Immunoglobulin treatments and with significant progress to her recovery. Leigh will transition to an in-patient rehab hospital next week. There will be challenging times ahead, but we have to focus on the future and stay positive! On behalf of the Dzvonick family, they feel incredibly honored and humbled for every prayer and donation made. Captain Dzvonick is beyond grateful for this community to come together. We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude. I cannot thank you enough. God bless you.

A story from a Military spouse to another, a wife to another, a mother to another.

Leigh Dzvonick is a proud Marine Corps wife married to Captain Robert Dzvonick. She is a "super mom" to three children (3.5 yr, 2 yr, 8 mos). She's strong, resilient, and dependable.

On New Year's Day, Leigh was hospitalized and diagnosed with GBS, Guillain-Barré (Ghee-yan Bah-ray) Syndrome. It's an autoimmune disorder in which the immune system attacks healthy nerve cells in your peripheral nervous system.

GBS is characterized by the rapid onset of numbness, weakness, and often paralysis of the legs, arms, breathing muscles, and face. Leigh’s symptoms started with weakness and tingling in the feet and legs that spread to her upper body. Her body's immune system attacks part of the peripheral nervous system causing her immobility and paralysis. Leigh will require 24 hour around the clock personal care assistant, rehabilitation, physical, occupational and speech therapy.

We do not live the military life; it lives in us. It grows in the heart day by day as we share our lives together as military families. Just as her husband Captain Dzvonick rose to serve our country, Leigh similarly rose to the occasion of taking on all of the tasks on the home front, caring for their children and keeping her marriage strong. As military spouses, we wear no rank on our collars nor earn any medals for a job well done. Yet along with our military husbands and wives, we also serve the nation; the lives touched by our own, immeasurable.

We will remain full of faith, walking in the confidence with God as he guides us through the healing process. From the bottom of my heart, I salute, thank you for your support, generous donations and prayers for Leigh’s recovery.
