Legendary Merle Perkins

When a truly good person like Merle Perkins needs REAL help and you have a heart, you can't help but feel his pain right now along with him. If you know that, you'd also know that there is a time to give (if you can) during these hard times especially. Merle was in an accident (he's ok, but his ride didn't fare as well).

They call them blues for a reason...justice failed Merle as did the insurance company who evidently insured both involved drivers. Turns out, that although he was not cited in the incident and wasn't at fault (paired with the fact the other driver payed higher premiums) - Merle will NOT be having his auto repairs covered. So we (Brenda Taylor & Eddie Freeman) have decided to once again "unite for the cause" and see what can be done to help this 77 year-old LEGENDARY human being. Merle became the percussionist he became thanks largely to the early discipline of "the Spirit of St. Louis" African American drum corps and a super good mom. The man gives waaay more than he was ever compensated for. To add salt to the wound, this man (at 77) still needs a ride to the gigs he still has to play, due to the nature of this beast of burden we call "the industry". You see, folks like Merle and others like Michael Morrison (bassist) made it possible for the stars to shine far brighter & perhaps, collect more $$. From his earliest professional gigs, through his European, Phillipino and South American tours...all the way through to this very day, Merle would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. "The perkolator" has played with the likes of James Cotton, Albert King, Eddy Clearwater, Taildragger, Freddie King, along with a 2 mile list of other top shelf talent. We write this today on behalf of a LEGENDARY human being & highly skilled percussionist - Mr. Merle Perkins.
