Hello, my name is Greyson Simon. Thank you for checking out my GoFundMe page. Every little bit helps me towards my goal and I am immeasurably thankful for your help in making this a reality.

I've been out as queer for 15 years and out as nonbinary and trans for almost a decade. From the beginning of my journey, I've dedicated my life to my community-- from my very first volunteer position at Genderfork, a site helping to demonstrate the possibilities of gender, to my participation in the early Trans Youtube movement doing community building through personal narrative, to creating community spaces on Tumblr for trans body positivity, to administrating a trans+ally support group on FB of over 20k members, and finally, to the Transgender Language Primer, my current and ongoing labor of love dedicated to getting our allies up to speed with our community so we can tackle the issues that matter together. It's now that I'm asking my community to help me personally, as a human, find the harmony that I've always sought with my body.

While I have insurance, and it nominally covers top surgery, my plan is structured in such a way that even with insurance, costs would compare to what surgeons charge out-of-pocket patients. I've been presented with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get top surgery for $5000 in exchange for helping build a new surgeon's portfolio -- a fully trained surgeon who is connected to a reputable surgery clinic. This $5000 will cover the surgery, the anesthesia fee, and at least part of the travel costs, as I'll have to be in the San Francisco area for a week to make the post-op appointment. This campaign is listed as $4000 because I will have access to about $1000 of my own savings by the time the cost is due.

Every little bit helps me towards my goal and I am immeasurably thankful for your help in making this a reality. I have tried twice previously to fundraise for my surgery. The first time, my emotional support animal (Butterman, the tabbycat), had a urinary blockage which sucked up my meager yield, and shortly thereafter the insurance that made top surgery financially accessible to me was revoked, ceasing any further fundraising. The second time, the funds raised went directly into helping my partner and I avoid homelessness as our world was overturned by transphobic employment practices. It is my sincere hope that this time, we can pull together and make this happen. We have four months to get this together. If my work has touched your life, if you value the spaces that trans people have carved out for ourselves in this world, if you believe that we all should be free to exist in our bodies as we choose, please help me meet this goal.
