Legal Support Needed for Immigrant Student!

Donation protected
I am a teacher at San Francisco International High School, a public school for recent immigrant students which also provides numerous resources for S.F.'s immigrant communities. I'm seeking funds to help one of my students and his mother pay for a lawyer for their upcoming court date.

(Note: student is NOT in the photo above. This is for the safety of the student and his family).

Below, a statement from this student, a recent immigrant from Central America. With his mother, he fled violence and death threats in his home country to seek safety and stability here in the U.S. He has managed to maintain strong grades in all of his classes while working 30-40 hours per week. He is a brilliant, positive, and resourceful kid!

The immigration law system is overloaded at the moment; we have reached out to the many organizations in the Bay Area which support these cases, but they are overburdened and are not taking on new client. Please consider supporting this effort to ensure that this amazing student and his only close family member are able to get legal representation in court - and are able to remain here in safety.

Even if you do not have the capacity to contribute, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could forward this campaign to your networks of people.

Below, his words (Eng/Sp):

Hello! I am a student who came from his country to the United States. I came looking for opportunities to study, learn, and work so I can help my family in the future. But moving to a new, unfamiliar country, my mother and I have had many economic problems. One of them is paying for a lawyer for our asylum proceedings. Because the court system is very busy, there are no free lawyers available in the Bay Area right now. Even though we work multiple jobs, my mother and I do not have enough resources to pay for a lawyer. That's why I'm asking for your help so that we can retain a lawyer, stay in the U.S., have the opportunity to achieve my dreams and goals and, above all, help my family.

¡Hola!
