I have started this campaign because I am in the middle of what seems to be a "perfect storm" that has the potential to unravel my life. For a second time.
7 years ago, I entered into an intensely difficult battle for my life that would continue to have residual effects up to this day. After being diagnosed with Lupus, I lost my job, house, car, ability to work for any extended period of time, and my son and I had to live with my mother for two years to be able get back on my feet. It was an extremely scary and harrowing time and posed tremendous difficulty financially, emotionally, and physically. I was unable to walk, drive, or even perform basic functions like cooking, cleaning and caring for my son. My mother took on the bulk of these duties on my behalf.
I still have health issues - as lupus has no cure but it can be mitigated with medication and holistic health practices. Medication proved to be disastrous for me and had violent side effects
Over the last 7 years, I have also taken tremendous strides towards healing and have started a practice of holistic care that includes regular acupuncture, cupping, and lymphatic massage sessions (none of which are covered by insurance and are paid for out of my own pocket) switching to a plant-based diet, eliminating processed sugar from my dietary intake, and incorporating specific types of mild exercise. I also regularly take herb tonics, juice raw vegetables and herbs, and practice intermitten fasting.
I have started my own home-based fashion consulting business, which has had success and received recognition and numerous awards. AndI have bee relatively "healthy" on recent years, at many times feeling completely healed.
But my health is starting to fail again and am seeking help so that I can get ahead of the curve and not suffer as direly as I once did. In the last several months I have had 6 recurring flareups, each worse than the last and lasting anywhere from 3 days to a week or more. I also had to have a surgical procedure at the end of last year that left me without income for almost two whole months.
Recently, I lost a friend who had health complications related to lupus and it reinforced in me a need to take better care of myself.
Per a physician's urging, I technically qualify for disability until my health returns.
I am a single mother with absolutely financial asistance from the other parent. Not one penny in 14 years. I have done my best to maintain my household with zero monetary assistance from the other part. I have even taken on a workload that is greater than what I should, often putting my health at risk. My health requires me to rest on a consistent basis. But I cannot afford to.
I also found out recently that I have warrants on a traffic ticket I was issued years ago and completely forgot about, because I was in and out of the hospital during that time and had to deal with my health. I was pulled over recently and the officer took pity on me because I was so distraught. But he insinuated that if another officer happened to pull me over for any reason, my car would be towed and I would almost certainly be taken to jail. I was able to make arrangements through an attorney for a lesser amount to be paid. But that, coupled with me missing so many work appointments, has placed a financial burden on me.
The funds from this campaign will allow me to:
A) Pay the attorney in full
B) Pay off the recently discovered warrants
C) Pay for my holistic medical treatments to continue (I should ideally be going biweekly)
D) Take 2 -4 weeks off so that my body can recover
E) Allocate a small portion toward my May rent so I can rest and recuperate from these recent lupus flares

I am also more than happy to consider any contributions as an advance towards future personal shopping or styling services and can send a "paid in full" invoice for the amount of hours your contribution would cover.
