<div>In 2019, AC2T, Inc., sued me for defamation after I published a <a href="https://colinpurrington.com/2019/08/spartan-mosquito-eradicator/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">review</a> of its product, the Spartan Mosquito Eradicator. The suit was a SLAPP (strategic lawsuit against public participation) meant to bankrupt me and get my blog taken down, but it was eventually dismissed in 2024. I then successfully countersued to recover the $90,000 in legal fees I'd racked up, but discovered (yes, I'm an idiot) that this settlement amount is taxable income, which means I've lost $36,000.
