Legal Aid For Asylum Seeker

For this asylum seeker and his family, the stakes are life and death.

In August we met a 33-year-old father of 6 at the Brownsville, Texas bus station. He told us his story. He had nearly died making a harrowing journey alone from Honduras, fearing that he and his children might be killed if he stayed. Then came weeks of ICE detention. When we met him, ICE had just dropped him off at this bus station, and he was on his way to a sponsor in Oklahoma City.

He told us his story. We said we would try to help him find a pro bono immigration attorney for his asylum case.

We found that the only pro bono legal help there was taking no new clients because they had a 6-month waiting list. So instead we connected him with a recommended immigration attorney, and we’ve promised to cover his $13,000 in legal costs. So far we’ve contributed $2000.  We hope you can help us raise the balance. Even a small amount will help.

Please see our video above, where he tells us his story at the Brownsville bus station.
