Lee Hansley Cancer Fund

This Go Fund Me has been created for Lee Hansley who has Salivary Duct Carcinoma, a rare, aggressive, fast growing cancer. When he went to UT Southwestern, the doctor told him that he had only seen two cases of this type of cancer and that he would need daily radiation for six weeks which would leave him deaf in his right ear. The doctor also said he would need chemo along with the radiation to help the radiation work better.

Then Lee decided to go to MD ANDERSON in Houston to see if they had a better solution. When he went to MD ANDERSON the doctor told him that they had Proton Radiation which would save his hearing! When MD ANDERSON submitted the request for Proton Radiation to the insurance company, it was initially denied. The denial was appealed with the help of many friends and family who wrote letters testifying that Lee requires his hearing to support his singing ministry. The insurance company finally gave the authorization for the Proton Radiation. Unfortunately, his medical insurance premiums are increasing more than $300 a month as of January 1st! With Susan not being able to substitute teach or tutor and Lee not being able to work for the six to seven weeks that they will be down in Houston, this is going to be a tremendous hardship for them! Lee and Susan are active in the choir at their church, Rockwall United Methodist Church, and in many ministries including a prison ministry, Walk to Emmaus and an India mission working with children in hostels. They’ve worked for many years giving of themselves to these ministries and want to continue. They just need a little help while facing Lee’s health crises.
