Hi, my name is Lea and I am 49 years old, I am married to Craig and we have two beautiful little children Beth who is 7 and Jacob who is 5 and I would be grateful for your help.
I was diagnosed with stage 2C breast cancer on 2/6/2016 just 8 months after our wedding and 7 weeks after a mammogram report stated that I was all clear and see you in 2 years!
I had a double masectomy on the 15.6.16 then a lypmh node clereance on 22.6.16 as it was found in one of my lymph nodes too which wasnt detected on any scan or MRI.
I have also done 14 rounds of chemo and 25 rounds of radiation ending in Feb 2017 on top of another surgery on 19.12.16 due to an infection that ended with my tissue expander on the right being removed and putting me 6 months behind schedule.
I had a full hysterectomy on the 16.03.16 as my cancer was hormone re active. I then had my 5th surgery on the 8.05.17 to re inset my right tissue expander and continue with the 2nd attempt of reconstruction.
I still have two more surgeries to do, one this year which hopefully will be my last for 2017 and one next year 2018 all going well.
I have had another setback with another infection on the left this time due to me returning to work to try and help ease the finiancial strain we are facing.
My world was turned upside down with this diagnosis and my thoughts went straight to my kiddies and what it meant for them.
My next thoughts were of the financial strain this diagnosis would put on our family.
At that point in time I was totally clueless as to how much it woud finacially impact our family.
I am not one to ever ask for help as I have always prided myself on being an independent strong women. However the time has come for me to realise that I do need to ask for help so our family can have just a bit of relief from the financial strain my diagnosis has caused and is continuing to cause as the outlays keep coming.
To date we have outlayed in the vicinty of $25k....
