Learning disabilities competitive swim club

Hi,

My name is Aiden, I am 19 and I love swimming.  Aside from who I am and what I like, I have Autism and Learning Disabilities and just for good measure, I also have Cystic Fibrosis. 

However, this does not stop me but it does make life a little more complicated, and this is why I’m asking for your support. 

I swim competitively  in Galas across the country. I’m very lucky to have found a main stream club who understand my additional needs and support my swimming but that’s not the case for many people. I recently went to Manchester to compete in a Special Olympics Gala where I won a gold medal. But sadly I was the only person from Cornwall because there is no swim club in Cornwall for people with Learning Disabilities. 

And that’s what I want to change! 

I am currently completing  my assistant coaching badge so can help coach when I set up our very own swim club where people can train together at weekly sessions. 

To hire a pool, a lifeguard and a coach will have on going costs and I need to raise as much money as possible to get this off to a splashing start. 

Often people with disabilities don’t have the same opportunities as those without and this will help to change that for those in Cornwall, who like me, love swimming. 

If by some miracle everyone in Cornwall donated a £1 then we would have £565,968! I know that not everyone will do that but just think how great that would be!
