Leah's Fight with Stage 3 Breast Cancer
Donation protected
Let me tell you about a woman who has a fire that burns like the stars and a heart that drips with compassion and empathy. A woman that is fierce, doesn’t allow life to push her down, even though it has tried over and over; a woman with desires and passions to live fully with no regrets. This woman is Leah Powers. She isn’t just “our best friend”, she is an old soul that longs for connection, loves deeply, encourages those around her…a soul that finds joy in the simple things, but loves to glam up and be heard. She is a life to a party. A soul that understands what loyalty is, and if she had her way, would fill her home with all those she adores to feed them, laugh with them, and truly live out moments of love all the time.
Back in 2020, Leah had noticed lumps in her breast during a self-exam, which even after removal, still continued to re-grow. After not being taken seriously for her concern by the medical world, she was then diagnosed with stage 3 cancer in 2021, which began yet another journey. After months of chemo, it is now at the next step; a double mastectomy and lymph removal. Once healed, she will move into radiation treatment, and finally a reconstructive surgery for her breasts and additional recovery. As one could assume, Leah had to stop working to begin this next phase. And as one can continue to assume, the medical bills have been piling up, and the additional stress of how she is going to pay her rent, utilities, and other bills is a huge cloud over her. It still boggles my mind the amount of stress that is placed on those who are literally fighting for their life.
This fundraiser is to hopefully relieve some of this added stress. As someone who has always been self-sufficient and found a way to get through the muddy water of life on her own, now needs our help more than ever. She will be out of work for months to come, with little help from the state.
The amount we have posted as a goal is for the months of rent/utilities she will be unable to work, for other bills that cannot be put on hold, and for medical bill assistance. We will continue this Go Fund Me until she is able to go back to work and pick up from where she left off, before this cancer turned everything upside down. Anything donated truly is a help, no matter the amount. She is a warrior at heart, and will make it through this. Her spirit and light are contagious and we want to lift her up as much as she has always done for others. Thank you for reading about her and her journey. Thank you for helping us support her. I know she has the deepest gratitude.
