Leah's Mission to Rwanda

This will be my fourth year traveling to Rwanda with the International Organization for Women and Development (IOWD). I am part of a medical mission that works to treat women with a childbirth-related injury called fistula. 


This year, I hope to continue the work I have started in prior missions, which includes educating women about why and how fistula develops, what to expect after surgery, and how to recover once back at home. This teaching was developed by one of the doctors who I worked with several years ago, and like many projects, the proof of success is how it works over time. 


The money I raise here will be used to cover the cost of my airfare, hotel, and food. I use my vacation time from work to take this trip, and I rely on the generosity of my family and friends to help make this trip possible.
