On December 6, 2017, Leah was struck by a vehicle on her way home from school.
Leah sustained a fractured collarbone, fractured hip, and spinal cord damage. After a 6 hour surgery, doctors were able to put her spine back intact but she did suffer extensive injuries and will need to stay in the hospital for a long period of time. They are not sure if she will regain feeling in her legs or be able to walk again. Only time will tell.
Despite suffering severe injuries, Leah has maintained her sense of humor. We are hopeful that her positive outlook, grit, and determination will help her recover quickly. The road is long but with love and support from all of us, she won't be alone.
We created this Go Fund Me page to help alleviate some of the medical costs the Alvarez Family will incur.
