Lea Ann Duncan Transplant Fund

Donation protected
Hi All!

My name is Kayleigh Cooper and this fund is for my mom LeaAnn Duncan to help with costs associated with her recent kidney transplant.

My mom has been waiting for almost 12 years for this transplant and on Tuesday, December 27th at about 1am she got the call. Within 5 hours we had her on a plane and off to Phoenix to be tested again and make sure everything lined up!

Over the past 12 years she has many struggles along the way. The first being a rare disease which causes a component of MRI dye to deposit in her muscles and harden them. (she could not expel this dye because of the "no kidney = no pee" thing) Open heart surgery to replace a valve which had hardened. Chronic pain. Low blood pressure to the point of the lower half of her body barely getting blood. Seizures and actually dieing due to bad care in a hospital (not keeping track of meds being given). Dialysis. And thats only off the top of my head.

Through all of this my mom has been so optimistic and trusting in God's plan. Even when my family, myself included, really struggled with why God would let this happen to someone so amazing she believed. Now don't get me wrong, she waivered some but who wouldn't?

This whole process has truly been act of god.

-This kidney was a perfect match for mom which we have been told time and time again is going to be a one in a million chance. A needle in a haystack. Even family hasn't matched that well, but this one did.

-They were booked on the wrong flight (schedule error by the hospital coordinator giving them a flight number and time for Jan 3rd) and when they got to the airport the only flight that would get them to AZ on time had closed its doors! They called the pilot and he agreed to opened them back up and there just happened to be only 2 seats left on the whole plane!

-Moms blood pressure has been low for months and even her doctors haven't been able to fix it or know why. When they did dialysis at 2 am the night of the call, it was magically perfect.

-Mom was actually going to be scheduled to have surgery to have something out (forgot the name of it) and now that she has a kidney she won't have to!

There are so many other small things that aligned so perfectly to make this happen. It truly is a miracle.

The struggle however, hasn't ended. As you can imagine, there are several costs associated with transplant. There is the cost of staying in Phoenix for the next 5 weeks, medical bills, and new prescriptions (one of which is $1200 a month for 9 months). Many people have asked where they can send cards or flowers and while we greatly greatly appreciate it, it would be even more helpful if you could donate to help with some of her expenses that she will have coming. If we could just lighten her load a little I can only imagine the stress it would relieve.

I can't thank you all enough and I can't even put into words how appreciative we are for all those that said a prayer or though good thoughts through all these years.  God really does answer our prayers.
