Gord Fuller's Recovery Fund

Donation protected

On January 25th, much-loved community advocate, Gord Fuller was driving from one of his many volunteer activities when he was found in his van slumped over his wheel at a red light. From my understanding, the person in the car behind him (Randy Cobb who went to college with Gord and hadn't seen him in 30 years!) pulled him out of his car and after finding him with no signs of life, initiated CPR. He was then taken to NRGH and revived. Initially, family and friends were told he would have a less than 10% chance of survival.

The community was absolutely devastated. Sometimes it isn't until you lose someone or have the threat of losing someone that you realise how incredibly special that person is. That is definitely the case with Gord.

Gord is the most generous person I have ever met. As his municipal campaign slogan suggests, "Google Me". You can Google Gord to see the endless community involbement he has been part of for years. There has been an outpouring of concern for Gord. He has been in the ICU for 8 days and has had only a few family memebers visit him out of request to minimize stimuli so he can recover. His brother, Robert Fuller, has provided periodic updates, which we've all been grateful for.

Gord has absolutely defied the odds. Initially he was gravely ill. Many thought he would be dead or potentially severely brain damaged. From my understanding, he has been complaining that he had just gotten onto council and then THIS happened. What are the odds?! He'd been trying to get onto council for about 15 years!

Gord has a long road to recovery ahead of him. I've set this site up to raise funds to help ease some of the inevitable financial burden for Gord. Despite being in hospital, he still has bills to pay, including a mortgage, car insurance, student loans, etc. Often these expenses don't have a reprieve even if someone is unable to work or bring in their regular income. In addition to general life costs, there may be other additional medical-related costs.

Gord has helped the community more than anyone can fathom. Let's rally around Gord and help him during this time.

We will be setting up a bank account for people who are uncomfortable transferring money online (will update once that is done).

This fund has been set up with permission by Robert Fuller.

Gord, we love you!
