LBUCC - TH96 and Movember Charity Day

Donativo protegido

On the 28th November 2020, it will be 8 years to the day in which Leeds Beckett student, cricketer, and our friend Tommy Hardman passed away due to an unidentified heart condition.

Tommy would’ve been turning 30 on December 3rd.

Every year, Tommy’s family organises a 9 mile run to generate funds towards a charity called Cardiac Risk in the Young, which does some amazing work in helping prevent heart conditions. However, this year the event was unable to go ahead due to coronavirus pandemic.

Raised funds will go towards screening young people to identify if they are likely to be affected by a heart condition, researching heart conditions, supporting affected families, and raising awareness for such problems.

This year, the TH96 run is going virtual, through strava. Each participant associated with LBUCC will be donating £10 and covering 9 miles or more, on Saturday 28th November.

Alongside this, the battle against the stigma facing men and mental health issues is improving, mainly due to the fantastic work by the Movember foundation, in which so many of you will be aware of. This is a charity we felt we had to support, due to the increasing number of suicides among young people, especially university students.

The squad will be donning moustaches in any shape or form during their run/bike/walk on the day and sending their selfies in!

Any donations would be much appreciated!

70% of proceeds will be going towards CRY. 30% of proceeds will be going towards Movember foundation.
