Layla Rae's Medical Expenses

Oh where to begin...
I met Christina 8 years ago when she was judging for a pageant my family was hosting.  It was 3 days before her scheduled C-section for her first son, Ace!  Over the years we became good friends, having many play dates with our boys and having our single mom hangouts.  Christina is hands down one of the strongest mama's I know!! She has always been there when I needed her and right now I want to be there for her where she needs all the support she can get...

Now fast forward to 2017.  She had met a great guy that she fell completely head over heels for, who treated her two boys like his own, bought a house and they were excited to be welcoming an addition of their baby girl to the family!

Layla Rae was brought into the world on January 18th, 2017 and everyone couldn't have been more excited!  After being discharged from the hospital and able to go home to her family, she lost 11% of her body weight.  After many Dr’s visits and tests (in the Harrisonburg area) they found she had lip & tongue tie, which was corrected, but didn’t fix the problem.  They tried different diets to address allergies that came up but poor Layla was still crying for hours in severe pain. Dr’s decided it was time she went to UVA to be seen by Gastroenterologists where at this point she had now gone from 45% body weight to 3% since birth.  The GI team ordered a swallow test which showed that anatomically Layla's stomach's pylorus is causing her pain.  Her stomach cannot empty properly into her stomach causing her to be admitted for a feeding tube to be put in.   Layla is currently on her feeding pump for 20-22 hours a day and still in pain.  Her outlook is not clear as this is something she will have to grow out of over the next year or so.  As of May 30th they are planning to do surgery to have a GJ tube for feedings directly into the intestines by pump, surgery for the acid reflux and a scope done to see how much damage has been done to the esophagus itself.  But these plans could change depending on Layla's symptoms.

Christina worked full time for Dr. Kray for eleven years and has now taken a leave of absence to care for Layla without any pay.  JJ works at Marketplace agency Eldercare and Associates as an Insurance Broker.  He will be by Layla's side when needed and will be required to take days off from work as well for some appointments. Layla most likely will need care for at least 6-12 months in home.  At least one UVA nurse checkup once a week with her mom at this point.

Please help take some of the stress off of JJ & Christina so they are able to give their time & love to the care of Layla without having to stress about finances.  Even $5-$10 will help with gas to drive to appts, bills or even just a pizza on a stressful night.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.. I know it's a lot but these two deserve any help they can get <3
