Laying our Mama to Rest

As most of you know, our Mama was diagnosed with advanced Stage 3 Esophageal Cancer a little over two years ago. After several rounds of chemo and radiation, surgery was performed to remove the tumor that was growing inside of our Moms esophagus. This surgery consisted of taking the bottom half of her esophagus and moving her stomach up to meet what was left of the esophagus after some of her stomach was removed as well. During the treatments and after the surgery, Moms cancer went into remission but the health issues did not stop there. Due to complications with the original surgery, our Mama has lost quite a bit of weight and is now at 74 pounds. She is currently staying in a Rehabilitation Center so that she is able to regain her strength before yet another surgery has to be performed on her. We have been told that if the surgery is done in the state she is currently in, she will die. Our Dad has spent every minute he possibly can at the nursing home by our Moms side. This has meant driving back and forth from Huber Heights to Fairborn everyday and having to fill up his gas tank quite a bit. My parents are on a fixed income due to my Dads previous health issues and bring in one check a month for an entire household. This doesn’t go far. Our Mom has been on oxygen since the surgery over a year ago. This machine has to constantly be running for her to breathe. Because of this, their DP&L bill alone is double a normal household. Once she has the second surgery and gets to come home, she will still be on that machine. My sisters, brother, and I have done our best to help out in any possible that we can but, unfortunately, we are still struggling to help financially. So we are asking for help from our family and friends. We would like to raise as much money as possible so that our parents can focus all of their efforts on our Mama getting better and not have to worry about the added stress of paying a bill.
