Lay My Head / Homeless Housing

Donation protected

This campaign is to raise funds for our first demonstration shelter..

When you’re on the street, it doesn’t matter what your home looks like. What matters is having a home. The current homeless crisis is affecting thousands in the US and globally. One of  the most powerful tools in combating homelessness is making available low and no-income housing providing the basic amenities to help people get back on their feet.

The LMH effort is intended to get affected people into a safe shelter. All profits from LMH go back into the manufacturing and distribution to grow this effort organically into a housing movement that will transform and save lives.

I started this journey by studying, then discovering better options in response to homeless housing crisis. I manage construction professionally and approached this problem with my unique skill set to develop a design and delivery method that is simple and cost effective.

Low and no-income housing supply should be transitional, scalable and readily deploy-able. When transitional housing is provided closer to areas of homelessness, it increases individual success and reduces risk.

Its called "Lay My Head" or the LMH Shelter.  The LMH Shelter is simple transitional housing that includes a hardened waterproof shell with prefabricated “living modules” inserted end to end.  The prefabricated design guarantees quality, lower unit cost and allows for maintenance and replacement as needed.

The LMH provides safety, privacy, hygiene, communications and storage for individuals and families. This is the key platform required for people to transition back to normal life. When someone is living  outside on the street, it makes this critical transition back next to impossible.

The LMH Shelter will open up new housing alternatives for city planning to get people shelter at their most venerable time. Our business plan will also allow corporate involvement when underwriting LMH villages across the country.

In order to begin producing  the LMH shelter, we need to build the first LHM prototype for proof of concept and demonstration. The total cost for the 4 unit demonstration model is $100,000 or $25,000 per unit. This includes retrofitting the exterior shell and building 4 prefabricated living modules with all HVAC systems. We will then use this unit for presentation and to setup manufacturing.

We have organized friends in the construction industry to help make this organization a reality. As soon as we fund the first unit, we have the design and facility to build this model shelter within 3-6 months.

The goal is to provide viable transitional housing unit to cities and towns creating LMH Urban Villages.  Corporations will also get involved to underwrite production costs to sponsor these LMH villages.
This plan is simple, reliable and cost effective. With your help, we will prove that tackling the growing homeless crisis can be addressed with real solutions.
