Lawyer fees to fight for Silas

I have been fighting for custody of my son for over 2-1/2 years now.  He is currently placed with me and living with me as his mother has been arrested for meth and needles 2 times in the past 3 months.  She just got out of rehab and is in a half way house.  She has had court appointed lawyers and family hired attorneys.  I have spent over $20,000 in lawyer fees over the past 2-1/2 years.  I have spent my retirement, savings, and pretty much maxed out my credit cards in this fight.  I used the last 3,000 I had on a credit card to pay for my current lawyers retainer fee.  Today, we spent 4 hours in court only to have the judge continue the hearing to a later date because the mom and her lawyer were unprepared.  But of course I still get charged by the hour.  This last 3,000 was supposed to get the job done but obviously it will not cut it after today's events.  My 3,000 retainer is now pretty much gone.  I have not asked for a single penny in this long fight from family, friends, or anyone else but I cannot continue with an attorney on my own any longer.  I am simply out of resources.
