Lawyer Fees for Christopher

My name is Catherine and I am Christopher's fiance. In September 2019 a search warrant was conducted and Christopher (Ronald Hasty) was arrested and given a $100k bond for a different county. Within a few days new charges arose in yet another county, Marion County, FL, and he was transported there and given no bond.
No bond is reserved for capital offenses that are serious enough for a life sentence or the death penalty. All of Christopher's charges are nonviolent, unarmed, all related to property with no people involved.
- Christopher was held with no bond for almost 40 days with no charges filed by the State Attorney. It is illegal to be held with no bond with no charges filed by the SA for over 30 days.
- Christopher managed to get his public defender to schedule a bond hearing, where Christopher brought this inconsistency up to the judge. The judge gave the SA until the end of the day to file the charges or else he would be released on his own recognizance, and then set his bonds for each charge. His bond altogether for both counties then became ~$500k.
- Since this bond hearing, he has been reassigned public defenders constantly. By the time the next public defender was assigned his case, he'd try to contact them for a bond reduction hearing and they were already off of his case. This has been happening since October.
- It has been no different since COVID-19 became a concern. Video court was being provided for certain proceedings, including pre-trial. The day before Christopher was supposed to have his pre-trial they were conducting these. Then came April 8th, his date, and nothing was said about his court date, and nothing was done. He has not had a court date or been rescheduled a court date since April, over 2 months. He has not been able to contact a public defender, either... nor does he know who it is.
- Under no circumstance is half a million dollars an affordable bond for anyone for nonviolent charges. And it is completely unaffordable during this economic crash due to COVID-19. Bonds are supposed to be realistically obtainable. Christopher's exorbitantly high bond is essentially like having no bond.
During this time there have been plenty of inmates at the same jail with charges like attempted murder or murder on $10k bonds who are able to bond out immediately. How does this make sense?
- An individual has come forward and confessed to at least one of these cases months ago - and yet Marion County is not investigating this confession. (Also illegal.)

In addition to all of this and more, during the search warrant a detective sexually harassed me. I reported it to local police, and nothing has come of it despite having proof.
My own personal laptop was also taken during the warrant after proving it was mine. Laptops/computers were NOT listed on the search warrant, either. I was forced to withdraw from one of my college courses as a result because I could not keep up without it. I cannot get my property back without hiring Christopher a lawyer.
- On the search warrant a PS4 with a specific serial number was listed. They confiscated his PS4 that obviously did not match. While in the back of the police car Christopher asked why his PS4 was being taken if it isn't a match. The officer replied "my son could use one for Christmas."

With all of this in mind, Christopher's case cannot be properly resolved without a lawyer, especially as he has been essentially denied his public defender(s). Christopher is not guilty. And as many people know and have seen in recent times, justice is not automatically served or searched for, nor is it free or affordable.
Holding the state and system accountable for every mishandling in this case comes at a price, and that is why I need your help.
Christopher is honest, hardworking, funny, and so caring. He puts others first before himself. He has helped me so much and still does, even over the phone. He helped me out of an extremely physically abusive relationship. Christopher is really the best person I know. I have been worrying every day about him and this case against him. He is not guilty and I have to try to fight for him, it's the least I could do. Please consider donating, he deserves so much better.
I have met with lawyers pre-COVID and $65k will cover retainer. It seems impossible to raise anything near that but I would like to try. Thank you so much for reading.
