Lawmen Youth Hockey Supports Veterans 2020

Donation protected
The 2020 Central PA Lawmen Youth Hockey teams have chosen to raise money this year in support Pennsylvania Veterans to purchase Service Dogs for Veterans in need, as its summer community fundraising project.

Our overarching goal is to help Veterans receive a service dog for free.  The training and the placement of service dogs has a cost of several thousand dollars, and most Veterans are required to pay that cost to get a service dog.  Each service dog is individually and expertly trained based on the needs of their partner.  The dogs serve a critical role in enhancing their partner's life and assist them so they can become more independent.  These dogs have excellent manners, follow basic obedience cues, as well as specific tasks to mitigate their partner's disability and become an essential part of that Veterans life.

Last season, the Central PA Lawmen set a goal of raising $5,000 as a group, and ended up raising $12,500!  For this season, with more than twice as many players selected to be part of the Central PA Lawmen summer program, the coaches are setting the group goal at $15,000.  Let’s see how many Veterans we can collectively help so they can obtain more confidence and regain the freedom in their personal lives after they have given so much to protect our freedom through their service to our great country.

The Central PA Lawmen have chosen to partner with the Keystone Warriors (https://keystonewarriors.org/) this year to connect our group of amazing young athletes and future leaders with Veterans in need in the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  The Keystone Warriors understand the challenges associated with finding and partnering Veterans with services dogs.  At the rate of which this program is growing and the funding that these hockey players are providing, we rapidly outgrew using one source to train a dog and find Veterans to support.  Keystone Warriors is the perfect choice to help us get the most impact from our hockey players’ hard-earned dollars.  Keystone Warriors is an Eastern Pennsylvania non-profit 501c (3) organization that seeks to honor the daily sacrifices made by the brave men and women in all branches of the United States Military, but specifically those wounded on or after September 11, 2001.

We are improving the skill sets of the selected Lawmen players on the ice, and we are molding these future community leaders to be better citizens off of the ice and support those that protect all of our citizens.  Our challenge is to raise $15,000 as a group and provide several Veterans with service dogs for free.

Thank you for helping us mold leaders and achieve our goal!
