Lavon Williams Cancer Fund

Just before Thanksgiving Lavon was diagnosed with lung cancer, complicated by pneumonia. While waiting for a second biopsy, her condition worsened, and she was flown to the hospital.  After an MRI and reviewing Lavon's scans, the doctors discovered a brain tumor. Additionally, the tumor on her lung had grown aggressively, by an inch, in just 17 days since she was last scanned.

Lavon has stage 4 cancer and surgery is not an option. The tumor in her lung is in a complicated position near an artery and pushing on her heart, causing it to overwork. Currently, Lavon is receiving targeted radiation, followed by daily MRIs to monitor any progress made towards shrinking the tumors. After a couple weeks,  the doctors will compare the scans and decide if immunotherapy and chemotherapy is necessary and will be helpful. 

With her pneumonia getting under control the doctors are hoping to release Lavon to the comfort of her home on Friday, December 11th. She will be unable to return to work and will have to travel off island for treatment 5 days a week. She will be faced with many medical, travel, and living expenses.

Lavon is an incredibly caring, hard working person. Her family and her clients are her pride and joy. She takes the homes and properties of clients and makes them into something inviting. She delights in spending time with her grandchildren, showing them the value of hard work and teaching them her crafts. She is an avid gardener,  growing vegetables and beautiful flowers, while always sharing the abundance of her harvest.

Lavon is always the first to offer what she has to others and now, she needs help. She will never ask and even through this difficult time, her concern will be that she does not want to burden others. We hope to help our mom alleviate her worries and be able to survive during the fight of her life.
