Laurie fights breast cancer

They say that it comes in waves. On the morning of December 13th 2017, our Mom found out that Capitol One Bank, a client that provided her with around 75% of her business, wasn’t doing mortgages anymore. Thirty minutes later she got in her car with an anxious heart to head to her Doctor’s office to discuss a biopsy result; a result that confirmed breast cancer.

Shock is the understatement of the year…Why…just why??? It is, I am sure the question everyone thinks when they hear something like that. But for us the anger stage came hard and fast. Our mom had been dealing with lower back problems which made it hard for her to stand and walk for about 5 years, getting worse over the past 2. Then last summer she had a surgery that finally gave her the relief she had been praying for. Things were looking up, GOD is good. All the ideas we had for new trips and adventures were looking up. 2018 and onward were going to be full of adventures.

This was not the adventure we had in mind, but then again when is “our” plan really the plan at all. Its not, and accepting that has been a rough road these past weeks.

Laurie is the strongest woman I have ever met (and no not just because she is my mother), if you knew her you would understand. She is a single mom who has raised two successful, God fearing daughters who have tried all our lives to be as strong as her.

Today, my sister and I are putting away our pride, setting down our armor and asking for help. We were taught to earn everything we have, to be humble in our success, and to have humility in our defeats. This is our defeat, we can not do this by ourselves…

This journey that God has set us upon is something that none of us were expecting, but as our Mom says, we think “it is just an opportunity for Him to show off”. While cancer is a scary and negative word, we remain hopeful and thankful.
Thankful for a Mom who taught us that and so much more.

Cancer is an expensive journey, one no one is ever prepared for.
We have learned that Mom working during this fight will be very minimal. Besides the loss of her biggest client, Capital One, there will be days were getting out of bed will be a struggle, none the less driving across town for an appointment.
The daily bills will rack up fast with the limited amount of work she will be able to do. The medical bills will be an even bigger struggle.
We are simply asking for some help, anything you can give will be allocated to the biggest need. We ask as well that you continue to pray. For healing, for peace, for comfort.

Joshua 1:9
9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
