Laurie Doherty's Fight with Cancer

As many of you know, Laurie was diagnosed with small cell carcinoma of the lung that metastasized into her brain on November 7, 2017. Since that time, Laurie has endured one 6 hour brain surgery that was able to successfully remove the cancerous tumors in her brain. For the past three months, Laurie has been receiving chemotherapy to attack the tumor on her lung and will receive whole-brain radiation in the months to come. Since early January, Laurie has been residing at Beaumont Rehabilitation Center in order to regain the strength that she has lost from being bed ridden for months. Laurie has been working hard in therapy and is beginning to walk again. We are hopeful that Laurie will be able to return home with her children by the end of April. Because of the many hospital stays, treatments, bills, the cost of living at the rehabilitation center, and the every day expenses the Doherty family is financially strapped.
