Lauren Dunn's Medical Fund

This past August our lovely Lauren was diagnosed with a 5 inch breast tumor at just 25 years old! Her doctors agreed she had to have 80% of her left breast removed and reconstructed. Although the tumor was benign it did contains cancerous cells and her medcial team was able to get the tumor out before she was required to undergo Chemotherapy. 

After a few weeks of recovery Lauren jumped back into work, ready to put the trauma of the surgery behind her.

But now, unfortunately, her insurance is arguing that they will only cover 40% of the surgery because they believe it to have been cosmetic despite the insistance by her doctors that the reconstructive surgery was necessary to her health; and she still has further appointments down the road in order to drain fluid and monitor for any signs of cancer.

Now Lauren has to cover the rest out of pocket, leaving her with an empty savings account that doesn't even cover half of what is left to pay.  She has tried to work with the hospital and the insurance company but is now responsible for the remainder of the bill. She is doing what she can to manage, but this situation has made it impossible for her to stay afloat.  She needs our help.

If you know Lauren, you know she rarely complains and is a very private person. You will also know that she is a responsible, smart, and hard working person who would never ask for help unless she had no other options. Even if we can't reach the cost of all of her bills every dollar will help pay off Lauren's bills and get her credit back on track and allow her to get back to worrying about making amazing art instead of her crippling medical bills.
