Welcome, friends!!
When we set off on this journey of building our own farm from scratch, we knew that it was going to be a huge undertaking, but we were unprepared for the blessing of including our family and friends in the process.
We never really planned to take on such a challenge, but as we started to dream, little pieces fell into place: A flexible seller, willing to owner-finance the land to get us started, as we were unable to qualify for a loan. Family helping with down payments. Helpful contractors who allowed us to pay (basically) penny by penny. Finally qualifying for a building loan, and then the literal blood and sweat of family members, helping us complete fencing, water, and electric on the farm.
The tears have been mostly ours - some out of frustration, but most due to the overwhelming support that has been shows to us through this build.
The result maybe hasn't been "the" dream barn, but certainly the fulfillment of a HUGE dream for both of us. We hope that in years to come, we can add a bigger barn and some little houses....but, baby steps.
As we start to round the corner to a mostly-usable barn, we wanted to find a way to include more of you in this dream of ours, and decided to do that through this virtual barn warming!!
We hope that at some point, we can have a huge party to celebrate the accomplishment of this first phase, and invite you all. In the mean time, we would LOVE your help with outfitting our new barn with some of the necessities!
We pondered an Amazon wish list, but thought this might be an easier way to invite you in. We have compiled a wish list (below), with amounts and approximate prices. It is not exhaustive, but includes many items to help make the house a home...for our horses.
