Laura's Para-Equestrian WEG Journey

Donation protected
Laura (Card) Hall and her horse Wendolin are on an amazing journey to compete for Canada at the 2018 World Equestrian Games (WEG). They need to qualify for the Canadian Para-Equestrian Team by competing at international level shows (CPEDIs) all of which are based on the east coast. Laura and Wendolin will be flying from the west coast of Canada to Florida to begin their WEG journey on January 4th, 2018 and will continue their journey to Tryon, North Carolina and then to Ottawa before coming back home.

All funds raised will be used to cover travel expenses, show entry fees, and Wendolin's care.

"Please become a part of my team’s efforts to represent Canada and help us realize our WEG dream!"

About Laura - I have always been a rider and successfully competed at the international level as an able bodied rider in the late 1990s and early 2000s. In 2012, I was in a riding accident and although I was wearing a helmet I sustained a traumatic brain injury. The TBI has left me with right sided weakness, intense brain fatigue, balance difficulties and memory issues. Due to these deficits I am unable to return to my career but determined to continue riding and living a meaningful life, I have been internationally classified as a Grade IV para-equestrian.

I have achieved great success in the competition ring in 2017, winning every national show entered and competing for Canada twice in Nation’s Cups in Florida and North Carolina on borrowed horses that I had only ridden for 5 days before competition! I am listed on the National Team Development Squad and have an FEI world ranking of 33 in my grade and 104 in the world.

About Wendolin - she is a 2003 KWPN registered Dutch warmblood mare who was imported into Canada as a weanling and began a dressage career in Vancouver. She later tried her hoof as a hunter as she showed great interest in jumping but has now returned to the dressage arena in the world of para. She is by Metall which makes her a half sister to Carl Hester's Olympic medal winning stallion Uthopia!
